From the Archbishop

Archbishop Freier's full synod charge

October 28 2019

Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, Dr Philip Freier, opened the 53rd Melbourne Anglican Synod with his charge on 17 October. The charge, or address, is essentially a review of the previous year and a preview of things to come. This year's synod charge saw Dr Freier speak in depth on the issues of same-sex marriage and the Church's response, as well as the nature of the Church's "culture". He also singled out several new or recent initiatives for praise, including the Prevention of Violence Against Women Program and Parish Partnerships, and signalled the need for real time data on the changing demographics of the Church.
