January 27 2016Melbourne’s St Paul’s Cathedral has begun planning and consulting on two memorials for Aboriginal Australians.

The Cathedral Chapter’s Culture and Heritage Committee are “actively considering” one memorial to Aboriginal lives lost in the frontier wars, and another to Aboriginal service personnel in the AIF. A comprehensive redesign of the Flinders Street frontage to reflect the traditional land and its owners is also being considered.

The announcement was made by The Very Revd Dr Andreas Loewe, Dean of Melbourne, during celebrations marking the 125th anniversary of St Paul’s consecration on 24 January.
