St Philip’s Collingwood prepares welcome boxes for refugees
November 8 2015A group of women at St Philip’s Collingwood is putting together welcome boxes for Syrian refugees arriving in Australia.
The driving force behind the project is vestry member Margaret Finlayson, who has collected boxes and their contents. The boxes come in various forms, designed for all ages and genders. A baby’s box may have a grow-suit, a soft toy and baby shampoo; an adult woman’s may contain a face washer, soap, shampoo and a head scarf. Donations to purchase the gifts have come from within the parish and from residents of The Old Colonist Village, Rushall Park.
More than 70 boxes have been put together and the parish would be delighted to receive money or gifts for this project.
