The Revd Noel Delbridge

December 19 2017The Revd Noel Delbridge died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon 12 December surrounded by his family, just short of his 94th Birthday.

After studying at Moore College Noel was deaconed and priested in Sydney in 1951.

Curate at Coogee, then Minister in Charge at South Hurstville, Noel’s passion for Christian Formation and Education took him to America to study Group Life Laboratories in 1958, returning to Australia with a team to run the first such Group Life Conference at Archbishop Robert Dann’s invitation in Melbourne later that year.

In 1960 Noel was appointed Director of Promotion and Christian Education in Newcastle, and moved there with his young family. Noel and the family returned to Sydney in 1963 when he was appointed Rector of St Luke’s Mosman.

In 1973 Archbishop Woods invited Noel to be Director of Christian Education in Melbourne.

He became Archdeacon of Essendon in 1978 and Director of GBRE in 1980.

Finally, Noel was Vicar of All Soul’s Sandringham from 1985 before retiring and continuing his active ministry as an Intentional Locum both in Melbourne and interstate.

We give thanks to God for the life and ministry of the Reverend Noel Delbridge and pray for his wife Zoe, their sons Chris and Stephen and their families.

The funeral was held on Monday 18 December at Holy Trinity East Melbourne.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory
