New principal of Ridley College appointed

The Reverend Canon Dr Rhys Bezzant has been announced as the new principal of Ridley College.

Canon Bezzant is currently dean of the Anglican Institute at Ridley College, and a canon of St Paul’s Cathedral.

In its announcement, the Ridley College Board said “Rhys has demonstrated experience of and love for mentoring [and] equipping the next generation of men and women for God’s mission.”

Principal Brian Rosner announced in March that he would retire at the end of 2024.

Canon Bezzant said he was honoured to be given the challenge and responsibility of being the 10th principal of Ridley College.

He said he was excited about the prospect that lay ahead, training up men and women for leadership among God’s people.

“We have so much to be thankful for at Ridley. We have humble students who want to learn. Godly staff and faculty, we have a magnificent campus experience, a world class online program. we have chapel and sermons every day of the week,” Canon Bezzant said.

“The Lord has abundantly blessed us in all the ways we can build the church of Christ.”

Canon Bezzant will take up the position of principal effective 1 January.

Canon Bezzant joined the faculty at Ridley College in 2004, after working in parish and student ministry.

He teaches in church history, Christian worship and ecclesiology. Canon Bezzant also leads the Anglican Institute, nurturing students seeking ordination in the Anglican Church.

Canon Bezzant is also a member of the Liturgy Commission and the Doctrine Commission of the Anglican Church of Australia.
