A scholar's life of learning and love
August 5 2020The Revd Professor Francis Ian Andersen, a highly regarded international scholar in Biblical studies and Hebrew who spearheaded computer analysis of biblical Hebrew syntax, has died in Melbourne, aged 94.
Christianity Today’s obituary quoted the late Ridley College principal Stuart Barton Babbage, one of his spiritual mentors, who said that Professor Andersen had “brought the machines of science into the service of the Church and the proclamation of the Word of her Lord”.
Professor Andersen’s teaching career included two periods at Ridley College.
