St John’s Anglican Church in Healesville has celebrated its 150th anniversary on Sunday with a special afternoon service.
Ahead of the anniversary, Yarra Valley Anglican parish administrator Sandy Berthelsen said Bishop Paul Barker would preach at the special service, and conduct a blessing.
She said the church was a God-honouring church with a united congregation, encouraged by its minister.
St John’s is part of the Yarra Valley Anglican Parish, along with St Paul’s Yarra Glen.
Ms Berthelsen said the current church building dated from 1889, built next door to the original 1870s structure. The original church building has since been demolished to make way for the vicarage.
Both church and hall have had a major renovation in time for the 150th celebration.
“We are all thrilled with the final outcome,” Ms Berthelsen said.
