The Victorian Branch is hosting a discussion led by Father Glenn Loughrey on Saturday 18 February 2023 commencing at 2pm.

Glenn is “a Wiradjuri man and an Anglican priest at St Oswald’s, Glen Iris. He is an artist with a particular interest in exploring identity and story through the visual arts. He is engaged in the dialogue for treaty, sovereignty, reconciliation and self-determination for First Nation peoples.” (from Glenn’s blog Red Shoes Walking)

In this year of The Voice, what we are learning about these lands called Australia? These are the pertinent questions Fr Glenn will address:

  • As church musicians, are we ready to consider how what is sung in our services might be perceived by First Australians?
    • What might be the questions and conundrums they identify?
  • How do we listen and learn?

The venue is St Oswald’s Anglican Church Glen Iris, and the presentation will be followed by our Annual General Meeting.

The address and meeting will be livestreamed. Everyone is very welcome to attend either in person or online. https://m.youtube.com/@stoswaldsanglicanchurchgle9310/

Fr Glenn is also Canon and Artist-in-Residence at St Paul’s Cathedral Melbourne where his recently-completed glass panels are installed.
